Golf Betting Events
The biggest golf competition globally is the PGA Tour and is primarily played in the United States. The best players worldwide compete in this tour played throughout the year.
The PGA Tour comes to a close with the FedEx Cup play-offs, where the FedEx Cup Champion is crowned. The event includes the players who accumulate the most ranking points throughout the year, and the winner scoops a cool $15 million in the process! The current champion is Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland.
The European Tour is played predominantly in Europe, with a few events held in Asia at the beginning of the calendar. The most significant event for the European Tour is the BMW PGA Championship held at Wentworth Club in Surrey. The tournament takes place in September annually.
Take your pick of any PGA golf event and place a bet right here at Fitzdares. With a tournament teeing off nearly every weekend of the year, golf is a great sport to bet on and a clear favourite at Fitzdares.
Betting on the Major Championships
There are four Major Championships in the world of golf, these four tournaments are the biggest prizes in golf, and we are currently taking bets on all four of these 2022 events. The Majors are:
The Masters Tournament
The first of the four is the Masters, played in April at the Augusta National Golf Club. The Masters Tournament is not held by the PGA but rather by the Augusta National Golf Club itself. First played in 1934, the Masters Tournament is one of the big two, with every player wanting to get their hands on that green jacket.
The current Masters champion is Jon Rahm, who coasted to the Green Jacket by four shots. Who will win the 2024 Masters Tournament? You can pick your winner by heading over to our betting page.
The USPGA Championship
The second is the PGA Championship. This event is played on a different course every year and tees off in May annually. In 2022, Justin Thomas was the last man standing at Southern Hills, beating Will Zalatoris in a play-off to land his 2nd Major Championship.
The US Open
Next is the United States Open Championship. This tournament is played on a different course each year, all of which are set up to make play very difficult, in which accurate driving is vital. This tournament is not held by the PGA but rather the United States Golf Association (USGA).
The 2022 US Open champion was Matthew Fitzpatrick of England, ending day four with a six-under-par to secure his first Major championship and first win in the US. Check out our odds for the 2024 US Open US Open.
The Open Championship
Finally, the Open Championship, or simply The Open, is the most prestigious and coveted achievement in the world of professional golf. First played in 1860, the Open is the oldest golf tournament in the world. The Open rotates golf courses every year between some of the UK’s most exclusive golf courses.
The current champion is Cameron Smith, becoming Champion Golfer of the Year at the Home of Golf, St. Andrews. Smith shot a blistering 64 in the final round to finish on 20 under-par.
Outside of the year’s four Major Championships, The Players Championship serves as the PGA Tour’s flagship event. You can bet on all of these events right here and you will find outright odds for all of the biggest events of the year.
Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup Betting
A few events in the golfing calendar occur each year, the most prominent being the Ryder Cup and the Solheim Cup. These events occur once every two years between Europe and the USA teams.
The Ryder Cup is the men’s competition and is the older of the two. Established in 1927, the Ryder Cup has been played every two years since its inception (excluding 1939, 1941, 1943 and 1945 due to WWII. The current champions are Team USA after a stomping victory in 2021.
The Solheim Cup is the women’s event, held in alternating years to the Ryder Cup since 1990. The current champions are Team Europe in a close contest in 2021, with the 2020 edition of the Solheim cup being postponed.
We are currently taking bets for both of these events set to take place in 2023.
